A message from Gwen Tatera about her personal experience, and why she's put this calendar together for all diabetics:
On January 21, 1998, (my birthday) I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Over these years, I have fluctuated greatly; from very careful with my food to pretending I wasn't diabetic and eating whatever I wanted.
My blood sugars went from 8.1 at my worst to 5.8 in May, 2011. By the grace of God I am still alive and now am doing better than ever! On January 1, 2011, I made the decision to change my destructive patterns. My weight at its high was 212 pounds. On August 6, 2011 I weighed 127.
I had thought about changing for months and researched various ideas. I decided to apply the theories to reduce my blood sugars and save my life. The journey was rewarding beyond measure. I have more energy than I ever thought possible. I am 63 and feel like 40.
This calendar is my way of sharing many of the ideas. These are some of the things that worked for me. See your physician before making changes. Take what works for you! I have not been perfect, but have improved tremendously. Good luck on your journey!
